IT and Security Coordinator at the Faculty of Science

About the Workplace

At the Faculty of Science's office, we are about 40 employees. We provide qualified operational support for the faculty's management and institutions in areas such as education, management support, premises, research, HR, IT, finance, and communication. Our work is characterized by curiosity, independence, high engagement, and accountability.

Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility

As the IT and Security Coordinator, you will be the faculty's expert and contact person in both security and IT matters. You will work with ongoing issues and development within the faculty and with our institutions, as well as together with the university's central functions and external suppliers. You will have a commissioning and requirement-setting function, where you initiate, lead, and follow up on IT-related projects and security efforts. You will coordinate and develop the faculty's work in information security, IT security, physical security, and crisis preparedness.

You will also convene the faculty's IT council with representatives from the faculty's institutions, which will serve as a forum and important tool in your mission to drive the work of creating uniform and effective IT structures within the faculty. You will lead the faculty's strategic development, environmental monitoring, and competence development in both IT and security, which also includes collaboration with other faculties.

  • Be the faculty's expert and contact person in security and IT matters, both internally and externally
  • Coordinate and develop the faculty's work in information security, IT security, and physical security internally and together with others
  • Drive and coordinate crisis preparedness and security issues at the faculty level
  • Lead and develop the faculty's IT council and coordinate with other faculties
  • Initiate, set requirements, and follow up on IT projects and IT deliveries
  • Manage IT and AV purchases at the faculty office
  • Develop and implement routines and processes for security and IT work
  • Support the organization in matters regarding data protection, incident management, and risk assessment
  • Monitor the environment and contribute to competence development in the security and IT field
  • Participate in relevant networks and working groups within the university

Qualifications

We are looking for a solution-oriented and experienced coordinator in IT and security who enjoys working with both strategic and operational issues. You have the ability to create structure and drive development in complex environments, and you are used to coordinating and leading collaborations with many different stakeholders. The role requires you to switch between initiating and leading long-term development projects and providing practical support in everyday tasks, as well as having an easy time building trusting relationships and communicating clearly with different target groups.

Requirements for Employment

  • University degree in a relevant field or other experience deemed equivalent
  • Documented experience in information security, IT security, or physical security
  • Experience in IT coordination, IT project management, requirements setting, commissioning roles, or similar roles within IT
  • Very good ability to express yourself in writing and orally in Swedish and English
  • Good planning and organizational skills

Meritorious for Employment

  • Experience in crisis preparedness, data protection work, and incident management
  • Experience working in larger educational organizations or public sector
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations such as GDPR, NIS Directive, and Swedish security protection legislation
  • Experience in developing and implementing organization-wide routines, standards, and processes within security or IT

At the Faculty of Science, research and education are conducted in biology, astronomy, physics, geoscience, chemistry, mathematics, and environmental science. The activities are conducted at eight institutions gathered within the northern university area. The faculty has about 1,500 students, 360 doctoral students, and 700 employees.

Office N works with service and support for the faculty's management. We have specialized competence in issues related to undergraduate and graduate education, internationalization, higher education pedagogy, finance, IT, personnel issues, communication, careers, and equal opportunities. We currently have about 30 people working in the office.
